Knights Men’s Basketball Cannot Complete OT Win

Welland, ON: On Wednesday night at the Simplii Financial Athletic Center, the Niagara College Knights men's basketball team fall short against the Mountaineers, with a final score of 90-95 in a thrilling overtime game. 

The Knights had a strong start to the game, but the Mountaineers fought back with several 3-point field goals in the first quarter, allowing them to lead by one point by the end of the quarter.

The second quarter began roughly for the Knights, but Raheem Dennis' 10 points during the quarter kept them within reach; the Mountaineers held a slim lead of 40-41 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Skylar Samuel, a third-year wing player, stepped up with an impressive 11 points, yet the Knights still found themselves trailing by just 3 points, with a score of 61-64.

As the fourth quarter began, the Knights made a strong start, with both Raheem Dennis and Skylar Samuel leading the team to a total of 44 points in the game. The fourth quarter ended in a tie at 83, leading to overtime. Unfortunately, in overtime, the Mountaineers outscored the Knights 12-7, resulting in a 5-point loss for the Knights with a final score of 90-95.

It was an intense game for the Knights. Although they lost, coach Lequan Hylton kept a positive outlook focusing on upcoming games. He said, "I think we just need to pull everything together and do the right things at the right time and we need guys to step up". 

The Knights will look to rebound in their next game on Sunday, November 17th when they host the Canadore Panthers at the Simplii Financial Athletic Center in Welland.  Tipoff is scheduled for 1pm.
