Knights Men’s Basketball Fall to Conestoga in Final Road Game of the Regular Season

KITCHENER, ON: The Niagara Knights men's basketball team (8-9) took on the Conestoga Condors in their final road game of the regular season.  After a strong finish in their last game against Sheridan, they were not able to carry that momentum forward as they lost to the Condors 79-51.

The first 5 points of this game were scored by the Knights as they got off to a strong start, but the Condors were able to claw their way back and finished the quarter strong to take a 5-point lead into the 2nd frame.  The Knights' struggles really started in the 2nd quarter when they were outscored 19-11 as their Condors built their lead to 13 points at the half.

The Knights came back from the halftime break with some new momentum as they went on a 5-0 run to start the 3rd quarter and tried to mount the comeback.  However, the Condors were not cooperating as they went on a few small runs of their own and finished the 3rd quarter on a 5-0 run to build their lead to 16 with one quarter remaining.  The frustration continued to build for the Knights in the 4th quarter as they were unable to get any offensive momentum going. They struggled from the 3-point line in this game, which is a part of the Knights' offense that is typically strong.

1st year guard Joseph Buckley had a quiet game but went 6-for-6 from the free throw line.  He also added 12 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and 3 steals.  3rd year guard Kadin Moore played a team-high 30 minutes and added 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals.  4th year guard Skylar Samuel was also perfect from the free throw line, going 4-for-4 and adding 8 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 steal.

The Knights will look to turn things around and see if they can win their final game of the regular season, which will be at home on Saturday, February 14th.  The Fanshawe Falcons will come to the Simplii Financial Athletic Centre with tipoff scheduled for 3pm. If you cannot join us in person, all OCAA basketball action can be watched live at ocaalive.com.
