Knights Men’s Basketball Cannot Complete the Road Win against Sheridan

October 31, 2025

BRAMPTON, ON: The Niagara Knights men's basketball team (1-3) lost to the Sheridan Bruins (2-1) in their final road game of a 3-game swing.  The Bruins defeated the Knights 100-90 in the Friday evening game.

Foul trouble in the 1st quarter weighed heavily on the Knights players' minds, as they committed 8 fouls compared to the Bruins' 4.  Although when given the opportunity, the Knights took full advantage and shot 100% from the free throw line in the 1st quarter.  Most of that was thanks to 1st year Eric Tesar going 4-for-4 from the line.

More disciplined play in the 2nd quarter saw the Knights send the Bruins to the free throw line only 4 times, and they only made 71.4% of their shots.  This in addition to some strong 3-point shooting (80%) helped the Knights score 27 in the quarter and trail by only 1 point heading into halftime.

The 3rd quarter was the Knights' weakest, as they scored a mere 15 points and Sheridan ran over them to score 24 and increase their lead to 10.  That lead would slightly decrease before being the margin that the Bruins eventually won the game by.

Despite 10 points and 9 points in the quarter by Joseph Buckly and Difference Igbinehi respectively, it was not enough to close the gap.  Buckley, the 1st year from Oshawa, ON, scored a season-high tying 25 points in this contest.  He added 3 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 block for good measure.  1st year forward from Toronto, ON, Igbinehi, totaled 14 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block.  3 other Knights scored in the double-digits in this game with Skylar Samuel and Chris Spann adding 13 each and Josh Ntumba adding 12 of his own.  Unfortunately, the defense could not step up in this game and limit the Bruins' scoring chances by enough to pull off the win.

The Knights will look to take a few days to recover from this tough 3-game road swing before they turn their attention to this weekend's double-header against the Lambton Lions and the St. Clair Saints.  Friday's game against the Lions is scheduled to start at 8pm at the Simplii Financial Athletic Centre.  Saturday's game against the Saints is scheduled for 3pm, also at the Simplii Financial Athletic Centre in Welland.
