WELLAND, ON: The Niagara Knights men's basketball team (3-4) kept the winning momentum going as they won the 2nd game of this Saturday's ReuKnighted quadruple-header. They took down the 1-5 Redeemer Royals in their final home game of the season at the Simplii Financial Athletic Centre in Welland.
The Knights had seven players with 5+ points, displaying a true team effort that contributed to today's big win. Starting off the 1st quarter hot with 11 points on 3-for-5 shots was Joseph Buckley setting the tone. 2nd year guard Chris Spann followed Buckley's lead, putting up 10 points in the 2nd quarter, ultimately leading the team with 26 points by the end of the game.
As the game went on, the Knights had time to re-adjust and create more open space outscoring the Redeemer Royals 26-10 in the 4th quarter. "It was a complete team effort and that's when they play at their best" live stream announcer and men's soccer captain Noah Vogel said.
The Knights started the game with 26 points in the 1st quarter and ended the game with 26 points in the 4th quarter, showing their ability to persevere and play a full game. The coaching staff of the Knights are starting to figure out who their reliable starting 5 or 6 players will be and are relying more heavily on those players as they figure out a way to step up their games and lead this young team.
When asked about this game, head coach Lequan Hylton commented "we got another much-needed win in this game – the team was very motivated and eager to play well in front of the home crowd filled with alumni and ReuKnighted fans". He added how important it was that both Buckley and Spann had "big games" as well as the value of the "defense stepping up and holding Redeemer to only 10 points in the 4th quarter".
This victory is the Knights 3rd of the season out of 7 games while also starting a 2-game winning streak. With this momentum the Knights hope to keep the winning streak alive in their upcoming game at Glenn Johnston Athletic Centre in London against the Fanshawe Falcons (1-5) on Wednesday November 26th, 2025.
