Saturday, February 15th saw the Niagara College women's volleyball program's season come to an end as the Knights were defeated 3-0 by the Trent University Excalibur. The set scores in the contest were 25-19, 25-16, 25-13.
After the match Niagara College women's volleyball head coach Joey Martins commented "we are a young team and a small team. As a result the more experienced and taller Trent team won the passing and blocking game today."
The Excalibur controlled the net in the match, out blocking the Knights 19-4. From the service line the numbers were much the same with Trent recording 13 service aces to the Knights four.
Coach Martins continued "we had a game plan that faltered slightly at times and worked nicely when we followed it. I think at times the nerves being tense got the better of us and we just didn't execute."
The Knights finish 2013-14 with a record of eight wins and 10 losses. The team qualified for the post season for the first time in two seasons, and Coach Martins felt his players "made progress and significant improvement all season."
