PREVIEW: Knights looking to rebound from loss as they travel to face the Sault Cougars

The OCAA's sixth ranked Niagara Knights men's basketball program (5-2, 2nd OCAA West) will travel to Sault Ste. Marie this weekend to take on the Sault Cougars in OCAA regular season action.

After dropping their last game to the St. Clair Saints while on their Southwestern road trip last weekend, the Knights will look to get back into the winning column. They'll have a chance to travel back home with a two-game winning streak, as they will play two games in two days against their division foes from the Northwest.

The two road games against the Sault will be the final two games of a four-game away stand and their final away games in the first-half of the season.

The Sault Cougars have mustered an 0-8 start to the 2018-19 season. They are currently averaging 57.0 points per game compared to the 96.4 points per game that the Knights are scoring. Defensively, the Cougars are allowing 104.5 points per game.

Since 1991, the Knights and the Cougars have squared off 47 times, with the Knights winning 42 of those matchups. The last time Niagara dropped a decision to the Sault was in 2013 when they hosted the Cougars and dropped both of the matchups that weekend.

Fresh off being named a CCAA Athlete of the Week, Van Hutchinson Jr. (Nassau, Bahamas) is looking to continue his streak of double-double performances. Through seven regular season games, Hutchinson Jr. has at least a double-double in six of those games. He is coming off his best individual performance yet, a 56-point afternoon in the team's loss against St. Clair last Sunday.

Keveshan Padachey (Markham) has been stellar off the bench as the Knights long-distance shooter. Over the last five games, Padachey has double-digit points in four of those performances, including a 24-point game against Lambton last Saturday. So far on the season, he is shooting 47.9% (23-48) from beyond the arc.

Livingston Bromwell (Nassau, Bahamas) has been excellent through his first seven games as a Knight, averaging nearly a double-double per game with 13.5 points and 9.9 rebounds.

The Knights double-header against the Cougars will take place at Sault College in Sault Ste. Marie this upcoming Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, the teams will begin at 8pm before a 3pm afternoon tip-off on Sunday. The game will be livestreamed, which can be found here.
