REGINA, SK: The Niagara Knights Women's Curling team travelled to Regina, SK for the 2026 CCAA/USPORTS Canadian Curling Championship hosted by the University of Regina from February 17th to 21st. This is the first time since 2022 that one of the Niagara College Curling teams has qualified for the National Championship and the women's team made the best of this experience. This National Championship showcased the 8 best women's curling teams across the country, which was a deep and challenging field this year.
The Knights women's curling team for the CCAA curling championship consisted of skip Julia Markle, vice Megan Ford, second Cassie Barnard, lead Briana Szigeti-Jonasson, and alternate Carmen Warboys. The team played 7 games starting on Tuesday, February 17th and finished round robin play in a tie for 4th place with a 4-3 record. Unfortunately, the team that they ended up tied with won the tiebreaker scenario as they were one of 3 teams to beat the Knights during round robin. Here is a summary of the games played and the results from the women's team last week:
Tuesday, February 17th
3pm vs Southern Alberta Institute of Technology: 3-7 loss
Wednesday, February 18th
