Knights Announce Keveshan Padachey as the women’s basketball program’s new head coach

May 19, 2026 (Welland, ON)

Niagara College men's basketball alum Keveshan Padachey is returning to his alma mater to take over the head coaching responsibilities of the women's basketball team.  He was an assistant coach with the team last season.

Keveshan brings a strong playing and coaching background, beginning at Bill Crothers Prep and continuing at Niagara College, where he earned OCAA All-Rookie Team honours, a bronze medal, and a CCAA National Scholar Award.  He has since gained coaching experience at both the high-school and post-secondary levels.

Off the court, Keveshan is a secondary school teacher with the District School Board of Niagara, a Clinical Exercise Physiologist, high performance specialist, and the founder of PACK Performance, where he helps athletes reach the next level.

"Being the Head Coach of the Women's Basketball program is something that I am extremely grateful for, and not something that was planned – it kind of just happened" shared Keveshan.  "However, I am eager to step into this role and help grow and develop the program with the young and hungry team we have.  My goal as a coach is of course the success of our team, but more importantly, to help the girls be the best versions of themselves both on and off the court.  Basketball has given me so much throughout my life, and I feel like in this role I have the opportunity to give back, not only to the team, but to the entire region for all it has done for me.  I couldn't be happier to be back [at Niagara College].  It feels right and feels good to be a Knight again!"

"Kev has been a part of Knights basketball for a number of years in various roles" said Michele O'Keefe, Senior Director, Athletics & Student Engagement at Niagara College.  "Becoming our women's basketball head coach is a natural progression.  His basketball knowledge and education in functional movement will set Coach Padachey and the team up for success".

Keveshan is taking over from Allie Columbus who stepped away from the program for personal reasons and has started his programming with the women's team already.
